As you watch the snow start to melt, hear the birds chirping, and feel the heat from the sun you you’re likely getting excited for the warmer weather on the horizon. Perhaps you’ve been holding onto some time from work and you and your significant other are planning a romantic getaway to a relaxing island or remote destination with beautiful beaches and you can’t wait. Now, all that’s left to do is pack.
Bathing Suits
What’s a beach trip without a swimsuit? Whether you plan on catching a tan while relaxing in the sand or you intend to engage in some fun water sports and other activities, you’ll want to make sure you’ve packed at least two bathing suits.
Resort Wear
If you’re traveling somewhere warm and beachy like the Carribean, Miami, or San Diego where the coastlines are plentiful, you don’t necessarily need to go overboard with packing. However, make sure to pack plenty of beachwear to get you from lounging by the pool, a coastal walk, and day in town. For guys, that could be as simple as a few pairs of shorts and t-shirts. For the ladies, we likely need a few more pieces and shoes – after all who doesn’t love outfit changes.
Underwear
Although you’re likely going be spending a better portion of your days in your swimsuits, nothing is worse than having the perfect outfit with the wrong underwear. You never know when you might want to paint the town or enjoy a nice dinner. For all the gorgeous flowing maxi dresses make sure to pack at least one strapless bra or perhaps a stick on bra for a cute backless top or dress.
Jackets or Sweater
You may think that because you’re on a beach or in tropical climates that a jacket or sweater isn’t necessary, but you can never be too sure. Mother nature has a way of switching up without a moment’s notice. So, having a light windbreaker or cardigan in your beach bag is recommended. Who knows, you might even want to pack an umbrella or raincoat just in case.
Toiletries and Cosmetics
Hotels tend to provide guests with a few basic toiletries, but there’s no guarantee of the quality or brand. So, it may be best that you pack your own. You can bring along travel-size lotion (with sunscreen protection), shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream, and body wash. You’ll also want to remember to bring along skincare products like acne face wash or anti-aging cream. As for cosmetics, try to purchase items that have sunscreen protection in them.
One or Two Nice Outfits
Again, you might be thinking that you’re going to spend your days at the beach or in your room, but as you’re out there on vacation, you may find other things to explore. For instance, your partner might want to be romantic and take you out for dinner or you could decide to go for a walk in town for shopping. Trying to do either of these in your beachwear probably won’t leave you feeling very comfortable. So, it couldn’t hurt to pack a “traditional” outfit or two and a few staple pieces of jewelry and accessories.
You’re so excited to be getting away from the norm with your love – and rightfully so. Chances are you’re counting down the days, hours, and minutes until the two of you take off on your romantic beach getaway. If you’re going to have a good time, however, just make sure that you remember to pack all the things listed above.
