Weight is that one problem that has etched itself on to every other individual and I fail to understand, why? Maybe it’s the stress, or maybe it’s the snacks. Well, whatever it is, one thing is for sure, our lives are packed with so many things that need our attention that taking time out for workout seems a bit overwhelming. Not denying the fact that working out is the key to a healthy and fit life, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about.

A teacher of mine was hyping about Keto and so I eventually ended up googling about it using the high-speed internet at my home. And you know what? The results didn’t disappoint me, at all. Keto has been around for many decades. If you want to know more about Ketogenic diet, then I would suggest you put your reading glasses on and come along as I take you down the ‘Keto’ route!

What is Keto?

Keto or Ketogenic is a type of diet that promotes low-carbohydrates intake. This diet allows you to load up on ‘good calories’ that you get from protein and fats, while completely quitting carbs.

Keto diet promotes the process of Ketosis. It happens when the human body starts to break down protein and fat for energy, which eventually allows your body to lose weight. I also stumbled upon a fact: Keto Diet is kind of similar to the Atkins Diet. If you follow Kim Kardashian, then you’d know what I’m referring to.

Oh, let me just give you a quick disclaimer, Keto diet is not meant to achieve health and fitness. Rather, it only focuses on rapid weight loss. So, if you want to lose weight for your wedding or your friend’s wedding, then you might as well go ahead and do it. However, remember to consult with your doctor first because you might get a better piece of advice that would make you lose weight even quicker.

Pour all the ingredients on your bell peppers and shrimps and don’t forget to get your hands in to mix everything together. Now place your veggies and shrimps on skewers, grill them until tender and serve.

Grind some cauliflower until fully crumbled. Now take a wok, heat it up on high and add some olive oil, followed by the grounded cauliflower. Stir until cauliflower is dry and all the moisture has dried. Now, add in your favorite seasonings, throw in some blanched veggies, stir and serve.

3. Queso and Celery Sticks

Take some butter in a pot and add some finely chopped scallions, followed by 3 finely chopped serrano peppers, and one diced red bell pepper and stir everything until sautéed. Now add in a cup of whipped cream, along with Gruyere and sharp cheddar, and cook everything until thickened. Serve with freshly cut celery sticks and enjoy!

4. Kimchi

Kimchi is a Korean delicacy that has slowly, but surely taken over by the storm. Just take some cabbage and cut it into one-inch cubes. In a separate bowl, take some freshly grated garlic, ginger, 3 tbsp. of fish sauce, 2 tbsp. of Sriracha sauce, 1 tbsp. of sugar, and 2 tbsp. of rice wine vinegar, and mix everything together. Now submerge your cabbage in the marinade and let it sit for a week, in the fridge. Remember, the longer it sits in the marinade, the better. Whether you mix some Kimchi in fried rice or serve some in lettuce wraps, one thing’s for sure, you’ll get addicted to it.

5. Halloumi and Olives on Skewers

If you’re in the mood for a basic snack, then this one’s it! Just take some Halloumi cheese, cut into cubes and place them on skewers with pitted olives. Brush a mixture of olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, salt and black pepper on it and grill until nice and toasted.

Wrapping It Up

Ketogenic diet may sound daunting, but it really isn’t. Yes, it is a bit risky, if you try to juggle it with a workout routine, so I would advise you be really careful while you do that.
